THIS BLOWS MY MIND!!!

Hamburger
Originally uploaded by ebbs.

CLEARFIELD, Pa. (AP) – A 100-pound female college student is the first to meet the Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub challenge: down the restaurant’s six-pound hamburger – and five pounds of fixins’ – within three hours.

Kate Stelnick, 19, of Princeton, N.J., made the five-hour drive with two friends from The College of New Jersey on Wednesday, after they saw pictures of the monster burger, dubbed the Ye Old 96er, on the Internet and on TV’s Food Network.

“I just saw it on TV and I really thought I could do it,” Stelnick said, after downing the burger in two hours, 54 minutes.

Stelnick didn’t eat for two days to prepare for the challenge. “I felt very full, but I was too excited that I actually ate it to notice,” Stelnick said.

Denny Leigey Jr., the owner of the bar 35 miles northwest of State College, had offered a two-pound burger for years and conceived of the six-pounder after his daughter went to college and phoned him about a bar that sold a four-pounder.

But nobody had finished the big burger in the three-hour time limit since it was introduced on Super Bowl Sunday 1998 – not even competitive eater Eric “Badlands” Booker. The 420-pound Booker – who has eaten such things as 49 glazed doughnuts in eight minutes and two pounds of chocolate bars in six minutes – tried three times to eat the burger and finally did on his third effort. But it took Booker 7 1/2 hours.

The burger takes 45 minutes to cook, and those who try to meet the three-hour limit must use no utensils and eat all of these fixins: one large onion, two whole tomatoes, one half head of lettuce, 1 1/4 pounds of cheese, top and bottom buns, and a cup each of mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish, banana peppers and some pickles.

Leigey said he was pretty sure somebody would meet his burger challenge, though he didn’t have a petite woman in mind.

“I wouldn’t have made it if I didn’t think it was possible,” Leigey said.

For her trouble, Stelnick got a special certificate, a T-shirt and other prizes and – as advertised – Leigey picked up the $23.95 tab for the burger.

Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow

Brandi and I watched this tonight. I’ve been waiting for it to come out on video for quite a while now, and it was an extremely clean movie with a fairly interesting plot. I say fairly because it had some major slow parts and was difficult to follow at some points. It did have a cool mid-40’s out of focus sort of filmography to it and had some interesting colors though at times I felt like I was watching it in black and white.

Would I recommend this movie? It might be worth seeing if you like old style fictional movies and even comic books. It’s too fake to be anything near reality, but makes some interesting points and incriminating arguments toward the Nazi’s. It bears a striking “Indiana Jones meets Star Wars meets Pearl Harbor meets Top Gun” flare to it.

See it if you like, you’ll be no more disappointed or impressed than I was.

I’m not really a regularly scheduled program sort of guy, you know, the kind of person who plans their life around a show? But since Brandi and I have had our DVR (digital video recorder) with the dish, it’s been easier to pre-record shows we want to see which rarely happens because we’re basically at our house long enough to get a short’s night sleep then we’re off again. Anyway, I watched this year’s season premier a few weeks ago and was immediately hooked. I borrowed season one from James and Alisha and Brandi and I finished it in exactly 1 week! Of course, this was easy considering we didn’t really sleep due to the fact that the furnace broke here in the house we’re renting (sorry Aaron). While we were up not sleeping, we would huddle together and pop in one dvd after the other becoming more enthralled with each disk.

So, now I guess we’ll start season 2?

Human Fish Face

This is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Honestly. In the article, the owner actually says that he’s heard people who live together for a long time begin to have similar attributes and expresses it might be the same between humans and animals.

Hey, Korean guy, ARE YOU SURE YOU DIDN’T JUST ALL OF THE SUDDEN NOTICE THAT THE FACES OF YOUR FISH LOOK LIKE A MIX BETWEEN THE FACE OF A COMMON CARP AND A LEATHER CARP?!

Anyway, this was the fourth or fifth one I’ve played in as I’ve had to miss a few due to being to far away and not able to make the trip. I made a post below of updates in my friend Tim and my crazy day getting home. This was that day. I’m second from the right in the back row and Tim’s right next to me on the left. I’m not wearing my usual 25 as I wore in high school, but number 20 instead as there was no 25 available. I think that’s why I only had 4 points. Oh yeah, also because I’m fat and had less than 3 hours of sleep the night before the game (New Year’s).

We did win the game by a score of 59-56. It was actually closer than it should of been because the Varsity squad was missing their best player, Dane Brumagin, who has a full basketball scholarship at the UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI AT KANSAS CITY.

Hope everyone had a great holiday!

New Year’s Update

without comments

Here’s an update on what’s happened in the last 24 hours of my life.

12/31-5pm- Get home from shopping in Tulsa with Brandi

12/31-7pm- Set up sound in youth center for young adult party

12/31- 10pm- Teens come over for NY party

1/1- 2am- Final teens leave the house.

– 2:45am- Go to bed

– 5:30am- Get up and get ready to leave for Warrenton to play in my old HS’s alumni b-ball game.

– 7Am- P/U my friend Tim in Tulsa to head out to Warrenton

-12:10pm- Arrive at my parents house

– 1-2:30pm- Shoot clay birds out by the lake

-NOW- Wish I was sleeping doing a blog update.

Our b-ball game is at 7pm. We’ll leave after having our traditional dinner at Imo’s pizza following. Tim’s gonna make the trip home so I can sleep like he did on the way here. I’m not looking forward to having to be at church at 7:30 in the morning. That’s cool though, I’m glad stuff’s starting to speed up again. I’ll probably make a post with some pictures from the game when we get back or after we get some pictures developed that I can scan since I forgot my digital at the house this morning.

Hope everyone’s having an awesome break!
