A few quick things on my mind.
First, I love my glass top desk I built from scratch. BUT, I hate how smudgy it gets so easily. I have extremely oily skin, and anyone who didn’t know me who might see my desk without me in there would be disgusted. I start of each day with a bottle of windex and paper towels.
Second, It REALLY bothers me when leaders talk about what they’re doing that’s working in amazingly vague terms. Seriously, it drives me absolutely bonkers to hear someone say, “Well, we’ve just done a really good job at empowering leaders and letting them lead where their strengths are.” That’s great, I know I need to do that, in fact, I even think I know how, but can’t you be more specific? What’s your process of finding the right people? Once you’ve found them, how do you train them? When do you know it’s the right time to let them fly on their own? I’m sorry, but some folks talk about it like it’s common sense, when I think a lot of it comes down to good ole’ leadership gifting and intuition. Can it be learned? No question, but not from someone who won’t give you the facts. Please, just tell me what you’re doing, let’s not be so vague.
Third, It’s really quiet around here since Pastor Ryan pulled out on Monday morning. You can still visit his blog HERE. I did get a good chance to spend some time visiting with Pastor Don and Crystal Hodgson on Monday and Tuesday while they were here looking for a home. We’re praying they find the right place at the right price so they can get down here fast. As it stands they’re planning on getting here for Sunday, August 2nd services. I will be delivering the Sunday morning messages this Sunday and the next.
Fourth, Summer has gone by entirely too fast. I can’t remember the last time I lost this much summer by just turning around. Kids will be back in school in approximately 4 weeks and things will start to get back to normal. Which means fall, which means football, which means new starts.
Fifth, I haven’t forgotten about my good pastor, bad leader part 3 installment. It’s been a mad house around here and I’ve been wanting to write it in the correct frame of mind. I’m slating a few minutes tomorrow morning to sit down and hammer it out. My thoughts are complete, it just needs to be put into words.
